Direct operated valves

Direct operated valves

incorporate a temperature sensor inside the valve, and operate independently of external power supplies.

Electrically operated valves

Electrically operated valves

are powered by an external electric actuator, with control provided by a separate electronic control unit, and temperature sensing by resistance thermometer.

Pneumatically operated valves

Pneumatically operated valves

are powered by an external pneumatic actuator, with control provided by a pneumatic controller with external temperature sensing.

Gas operated valves

Gas operated valves

are designed to control refrigerant gas pressures – and hence the temperature of refrigerated or air-conditioned areas – in marine systems in which the condenser is cooled by sea water.

Pump lubricating oil systems for El Merk project, Algeria

Walton temperature control valves have been selected for a demanding application at the El Merk oilfield in the Algerian Sahara. This is a remote, harsh and hot desert location where the terrain consists of large interlocking sand dunes.

Walton have supplied valves to control the temperature of lubricating oil systems for eleven massive water injection pumps. These are used to maximise output from the oil and gas wells, which will be critical to the successful operation of the $4bn El Merk field.

The lubricating oil systems have been designed as an integral part of the pump package being provided by Sulzer UK to the main infrastructure project contractor ABB Group. The systems have been incorporated onto the skid of the Sulzer pumps and each is cooled by an off skid, twin-fan airblast cooler in order to cope with the high temperature environment in the El Merk basin..

The Walton valves were supplied fully painted to the specification required by the customer.
